ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND PHOTOGRAPHER

Pat Looi began taking photographs when his dad gave him a Rolleiflex on his twelfth birthday. His early photographs of flora won him numerous prizes and awards. Looi participated in our very first bird-themed calendar and has been a regular contributor since. His other calendar credits include titles for Audubon (wall and desk calendars), Birderís World, Fulcrum Publishing, and Kodak (engagement calendars). His bird images have also graced the covers of American Birds and Birderís World as well as the back page of Wildbird magazine. His photos are featured in Houghton Mifflin Companyís CD-ROM Peterson Multimedia Guides: North American Birds. Aside from being a photographer, Looi is also a recognized watercolor artist specializing in birds. He has had numerous exhibitions of his photographs and watercolors at the World Bank in Washington, DC, and a one-man show of his "American Birds/Chinese Brushes" watercolors at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. A retiree of the World Bank, he now lives in Port Angeles, Washington, where he devotes his time to wildlife and floral photography.
