Martha’s Vineyard Seasons Paul Rezendes
Exploring a landscape, coming to know it intimately, requires time, patience, and intense interest. A relationship of this sort seems one sided in its expression. If an understanding developes between photographer and subject, however, the depth of its quality shows clearly. The images created from this intimate connection between place and eye and imagination show the proof of that bond.
For Paul Rezendes, evidence of the connection between the photographer and Martha’s Vineyard reaches back nearly two decades. In 1988 Paul first photographed wildlife on the island. Thereafter, he found reasons to photograph the island almost every year.
The affection and the fascination Paul feels for the many faces of Martha’s Vineyard shaped the photographs in this collection. The success of these pictures, though, is that through them the island shares itself and reveals its unique sense of place. Visiting this remarkable island in the sea is endlessly renewing and Martha’s Vineyard Seasons can take you there in every season.
